Floyd E(vnar) Hayes, 66, Rt 2, Du Quoin, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at his home. He had been in ill health with a heart condition. He was born in Colfax, Ind May 21, 1889. He was married to Jessie Strauss in Clinton (sic - County), Ind Jan 20, 1915. He lived in Marion from 1942-1950. He was an employee of Hayes Stables in Du Quoin and was previously a farmer. Hayes leaves his wife and two nieces. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. CE Johnson of Marion. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Du Quoin. Services will be held at 2 pm Tues in the Mitchell Funeral Home, Marion. The Rev. John Scantland, Du Quoin, will officiate. Burial will be in Herrin City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
